CensusAtSchool 2008:Questionnaire Now Open

http://www.abs.gov.au/censusatschool

Interested in using data from a large nation-wide database of Australian students to answer questions about Australian school students?
CensusAtSchool is an online data collection and analysis project that allows students to improve their statistical literacy while being engaged in data themselves. Students use real, raw data to investigate questions of interest and make sense of the world around them.
The project is suitable for upper primary years to senior VCE levels. Now is your school's chance to be part of the data for 2008!

Flat Stanley

In the book, Flat Stanley, by Jeff Brown, Stanley is squashed flat by a falling bulletin board. One of the many advantages is that Flat Stanley can now visit his friends by travelling in an envelope. This premise provides a reason for us to keep in touch with each other. The Flat Stanley Project is a group of teachers who want to provide students with another reason to write.

International Space Station 2007

Learn with and from American and Canadian astronauts what living and working in space is really like! A once in a lifetime opportunity for grades 3-12 teachers and students to communicate through the project blogs with Expedition 15/16 Flight Engineer Clayton Anderson, during his mission to the International Space Station this June to October. Supporting the project on the ground from the Canadian Space Agency will be Dr. Steve MacLean, who completed a mission to the ISS in 2006.
Students will conduct classroom experiments in parallel with similar experiments being carried out in the free-fall environment on board the International Space Station. They will communicate and compare their results with other participants around the world as well as astronaut Clayton Anderson.

Gator Tales

http://url.edna.edu.au/S3PK

Two classes are interested in sharing knowledge about state history, culture, population, and symbols with classes from around the United States. Participating classes will receive a package containing a stuffed alligator from Florida (the designated mascot) who will arrive with information about Florida. The mascot is seeking information about all participating states and will ultimately return back to Florida with a “gator tale”. It is asked that the receiving school "teach" the mascot about their state by filling in five specific charts (worksheets) requesting facts about their state.
